ANIME! AROUND THE WORLD!

I have just watch Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva and in this lesson we watching Spirited Away! It was really weird seeing 2 animated film in a week i guess? It was really enjoyable and interesting though. The plot and everything.

I remembered always getting glimpse of the ending of Spirited Away on television, and never get a chance to watch the film from the start. So in the lesson, i did watch from the start and it was wonderful. The greedy spirit was really interesting. The designs of the different character was nice too, like the twin sister witches, the giant baby, the spirits, Haku which was a dragon!






Not just Japan Animation, we was told about Canadian and Russian too.
Canadian Animation we watched Neighbors which was from 1952. Quite entertaining and it's a stop-motion. It sure use a long period of time to filmed the whole animation.
The Man who planted Trees is artistic and the flow of animation is very smooth.

THE AMERICAN SHORTS!

What i like most is that I saw Betty Boop!! We saw a short of Popeye featuring Betty Boop! Her singing was unique, and i cannot believe she was a dog's girlfriend.



Popeye was one of my favorite, always watch it when i was a kid. Even if we all know Popeye always save the day....... It is funny to see him getting hit by Bluto before he become strong! Olive was always being lame and funny.

Follow by Bugs Bunny, Duffy Duck, Tom and Jerry, Woody Woodpecker and Tweety Bird. It feels like I have just watch it yesterday, this characters are rooted in my mind already. As a kid, cartoon is a must!

We watch One Froggy Evening which was really funny! The frog just look so cute even when he is grumpy.



Mel Blanc, The Man of a Thousand Voice. He was really talented! Being to provide for so many character isn't easy at all. It should be fun to have to job like that!!

DISNEY

In this lesson, we learn mainly on The Walt Disney Company.

I personally love Disney’s characters! Previously I did know that the word Disney was a person’s name, in this lesson I found out more about him.

The person was Walter Elias Disney. So we learn how he started off drawing cartoons and with his brother, Roy, went into Hollywood and start Disney Brother’s Studio.

Disney creates Alice Comedies after his failed short called Alice In Wonderland. It was successful but after a period of time Alice Comedies was bought down again.

Alice’s Balloon Race was screened. It was funny, and the concept was hilarious.

Next, it was Oswald the lucky rabbit. The character was very lovable and lively.

Oh What a Knight was screened. The character still let me thinks of Mickey Mouse. They look similar without the ears different.

After that we look in to MICKEY MOUSE! So Mortimer was actually his original name but was later changed. Mickey Mouse was a success as Mickey Mouse display a true and stable character throughout. Which leads to merchandising which was a triumph in Disney’s financial income.

A few of Mickey’s work were shown. It does remind me how long I didn’t watch cartoons already. Still, I guess Mickey Mouse was never forgotten in many people’s heart.

Disney produce musicals cartoon titled ‘Silly Symphonies’ and even win the first Academy Award for Animated Short Subject with Flowers and Tress, which was released in 1932.

Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs was the first cartoon that was produce to be a long movie. The budget comes in at a high amount. Many thought will not success as they felt people will not sit down and watch an hour film, but it was successful and grossed to $60millions. Then it was Pinocchio, but didn’t work out that successful, as war was about to break out.

We also watch parts of Fantasia, Dumbo, Bambi!

After war break out, Disney was having a hard time. The studios was taken up and would produce propaganda films.

After the war Disney does come out of Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty and lots more features!

So proud of Disney! That he could brave through the hard times and create those golden characters like Mickey Mouse! He was really the man of the history of animation!!!!

Still didn't have a chance to go the first Disneyland Park at California, but have been to the HongKong's Disney land :) It was fun and amusing!!!
